Health and Well Being
Jan 11, 2022
Nicols Falls, page 26. To get to the start point from George Street, turn into Malvern Street and continue on Melvern Street past Fulton Road and where the road narrows stop at the next bridge. This one requires good shoes. This is 1.6km, and rises 120 metres so it is a bit of a workout. From our talk from Anthony Hamel, I have taken a few of the walks from this handout, Dunedin Selected Walks. Reference to a page number is the page in the booklet. All walks start at 7:30 pm. Family and friends are welcome. I am not sure about dogs, you will have to make your enquiries. My contact number is 0274 360 767 and if you cannot get me or Rajesh, Neville is the alternative. |

Upper Leith Walk, page 20. Mostly easy and on the flat. We will have an informal dinner at Filadelfio’s Pizza before we go, at 6:00 pm, which coincidentally is not far from the start of the walk. Filadelfio’s is 3 North Road. Dunedin Casino in the community
Feb 01, 2022
I believe that a leader is someone who is confident in their abilities, who gives a clear direction and brings their team with them on the journey. I am an experienced, results-minded company director whose career has spanned multiple countries, industries and world-class developments. My focus is on innovation, transformation and growth, and my mission is to turn industries and businesses around so they are better performers at the bottom line and in their community connections. I am a successful agent of change in settings where resilience and problem-solving are key – typically complex businesses with multiple layers of stakeholders. As the CEO of Dunedin Casino, my strategic focus is on the renewal of the Casino licence and transformation of the entertainment and hospitality businesses. Ensuring that the brand value proposition remains relevant to the community has been a major focus to date. I collaborate and consult on major international projects in the entertainment, digital media, technology and education sectors and provide business advisory, investment and property development consultancy to various parties in the public and private spheres. I work with organisations and company directors in global markets and provide guidance and organisation-specific advice on how to diversify and manage risk while balancing commercial and community objectives. I’m regularly asked to brief New Zealand Government Ministers, policy advisers and business leaders locally and offshore. My global experience encompasses the finance, travel, entertainment, and hospitality industries predominantly in Canada, and a family property and investment portfolio (UK, US, Canada and Caribbean). I maintain business relationships in North America and Asia Pacific. I am a strong proponent of authenticity, transparency and resilience in leadership. As a leader I am accustomed to making tough decisions and staying calm during the storm. However, alongside showing strength I believe in showing my human side and communicating the good, the bad and the ugly with my teams and staff. |

May 03, 2022
Margaret Fitzgerald is the General Manager of The Gut Foundation. It is a charitable organisation that teaches New Zealanders about diseases of the gut to improve diagnoses and early treatment. There is an emphasis on bowel cancer: nine New Zealanders find out every day they have bowel cancer and three of those will die. Do not let it be you, so if you have friends and family who might be interested in this topic, please invite them to the zoom. It might save their life! |

ROMAC
May 31, 2022
Janet Hewson a Canadian, is a retired nurse who has done at least two trips to Vanuatu with ROMAC.
This is a volunteer programme which qualified medical people undertake some amazing treatments for children who often would have very little future without treatment.
The tin which we hand round the tables each week will be counted up and you will be surprised at the sum of what's in that tin but is has been quite heavy. We should hold a sweep stake as to who can guess nearest the amount and the nearest/winner may like to round it up to a significant and generous donation to ROMAC.

![]() Building Intergroup Trust
Jun 07, 2022
Dr Kappmeier received her PhD in Psychology from the University of Hamburg, Germany. Before joining the National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, she completed her post-doctoral tenure in the Psychology Department of Harvard University, USA. How can groups build trust and move towards reconciliation, when their shared past has been shaped by aggression, violence or oppression? This is the question behind Dr Kappmeier’s research and supervision interest which examines intergroup trust and how it can be built upon to improve intergroup relations. Through her research, she had developed the Intergroup Trust Model, which conceptualises intergroup trust as a multidimensional construct. This quantitative model provides a solid basis for understanding how trust between groups can be built but also how it is eroded. |
