🎭 Behind the Scenes Tour – The Playhouse🎭

May 19, 2026 5:30 PM

Rotary members are invited to a behind‑the‑scenes tour of the Playhouse, offering insight into their vision for the future and the work currently underway.

The Playhouse is in the midst of a major fundraising campaign to significantly repair and refurbish the building. While they have received a substantial Dunedin City Council grant, there remains a considerable funding gap to enable the full project to be completed. The tour will outline what is planned, why it matters, and the impact this work will have for tamariki, rangatahi, and the wider community.

đź“… Tuesday 19th May
⏰ Tour starts at 5.30pm sharp

As a special bonus, a children’s rehearsal will be underway through until 6.00pm, providing a fantastic opportunity to see firsthand how the Playhouse is used and the role it plays in supporting young people and creativity in our city.

We will arrange dinner afterwards, making this a great opportunity for fellowship as well as learning more about an important local project.

Please register for numbers.

RYDA Programme – Volunteers Needed ( 25–28 May)
May 25, 2026 8:45 AM - May 28, 2026 2:00 PM

Rotary is again supporting the RYDA (Rotary Youth Driver Awareness) Programme, helping deliver vital road safety education to Dunedin secondary school students.

We are looking for Rotarians and friends of Rotary to assist as volunteers across the four days. No prior experience is needed — roles are straightforward and you’ll be well supported on the day.

What volunteers do:

  • Welcome and direct students
  • Help move groups between sessions
  • Provide general support to facilitators
  • Be friendly Rotary faces on the day

Important info for volunteers:

  • Please ensure you are on site by 8:45am
  • The day will finish at approximately 2:00pm
  • Morning tea and lunch are provided
  • One session takes place outside, so please dress appropriately for the weather
  • Location - The Edgar Centre

Event Dates

  • Monday 25 May – Thursday 28 May 2026

Volunteers can sign up for one or more days.

This is a fantastic, hands‑on way to support youth in our community and see Rotary service in action.

đźš— RYDA – Making Our Young Drivers Safer

We are delighted to welcome Liona Stanich, who will be joining us to speak about RYDA (Rotary Youth Driver Awareness) — an important programme focused on helping young people become safer, more responsible road users.

RYDA is a nationally recognised initiative that equips students with practical skills and decision‑making tools to manage real‑life driving situations. Liona will share insights into how the programme works, the impact it has on young people, and the vital role Rotary plays in supporting its delivery.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about a programme that truly makes a difference in our community and to hear firsthand how Rotarians can be involved.

đź“… Date: Tuesday 28 April
📍 Location: Dunedin Club
⏰ Time: 5:30pm for a 6pm Start

We hope you can join us for what promises to be an informative and inspiring evening.

Strategy Station - Monthly Board Meeting
Jun 08, 2026 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

🎯 Mission Control: Rotary in Action

Where strategy meets service—and decisions drive direction.

Our Monthly Club Board Meeting is the engine room of Rotary operations. It’s where club leadership comes together to review progress, make key decisions, and ensure everything is on track to deliver meaningful impact in our community and beyond.

Directors and officers provide updates, discuss upcoming initiatives, and align on priorities. While it’s primarily a working session for board members, all club members are welcome to attend, observe, and stay in the loop on the club’s strategic direction.

It’s focused, it’s productive and it’s how we keep the Rotary wheels turning smoothly.
