Walks of Dunedin
Nov 30, 2021
Dunedin lawyer Antony Hamel is an enthusiastic explorer of the city's many tracks and trails, including those linking heritage attractions in the inner city streets, as well as those on the city's outskirts and crossing nearby mountains. He wrote a book, Dunedin Tracks and Trails, an illustrated guide to Dunedin walks, tramps and mountain bike routes. He will share some of his knowledge first hand and offer some interesting walks over our summer break from the normal club meetings. |

Health and Well Being
Dec 21, 2021
St Clair Walk 1, Start at the Esplanade and finish at the Esplanade. We will gather at the St Clair carpark on the Esplanade, just past the Spirit House Thai restaurant and the Esplanade Motels. The walk is along the top of the sand dunes so be prepared for sandy shoes. Hopefully a hot chocolate/coffee/etc at the end at Starfish. This is half the walk on pages 38 and 39. If keen, and time permits, we could walk along Second Beach. From our talk from Anthony Hamel, I have taken a few of the walks from this handout, Dunedin Selected Walks. Reference to a page number is the page in the booklet. All walks start at 7:30 pm. Family and friends are welcome. I am not sure about dogs, you will have to make your enquiries. My contact number is 0274 360 767 and if you cannot get me or Rajesh, Neville is the alternative. |

Nicols Falls, page 26. To get to the start point from George Street, turn into Malvern Street and continue on Melvern Street past Fulton Road and where the road narrows stop at the next bridge. This one requires good shoes. This is 1.6km, and rises 120 metres so it is a bit of a workout. |

Dunedin Casino in the community
Feb 01, 2022
I believe that a leader is someone who is confident in their abilities, who gives a clear direction and brings their team with them on the journey. I am an experienced, results-minded company director whose career has spanned multiple countries, industries and world-class developments. My focus is on innovation, transformation and growth, and my mission is to turn industries and businesses around so they are better performers at the bottom line and in their community connections. I am a successful agent of change in settings where resilience and problem-solving are key – typically complex businesses with multiple layers of stakeholders. As the CEO of Dunedin Casino, my strategic focus is on the renewal of the Casino licence and transformation of the entertainment and hospitality businesses. Ensuring that the brand value proposition remains relevant to the community has been a major focus to date. I collaborate and consult on major international projects in the entertainment, digital media, technology and education sectors and provide business advisory, investment and property development consultancy to various parties in the public and private spheres. I work with organisations and company directors in global markets and provide guidance and organisation-specific advice on how to diversify and manage risk while balancing commercial and community objectives. I’m regularly asked to brief New Zealand Government Ministers, policy advisers and business leaders locally and offshore. My global experience encompasses the finance, travel, entertainment, and hospitality industries predominantly in Canada, and a family property and investment portfolio (UK, US, Canada and Caribbean). I maintain business relationships in North America and Asia Pacific. I am a strong proponent of authenticity, transparency and resilience in leadership. As a leader I am accustomed to making tough decisions and staying calm during the storm. However, alongside showing strength I believe in showing my human side and communicating the good, the bad and the ugly with my teams and staff. |
